Tzarfaty, Shimon


Son of Yosef and Chaya. He was born in Tunis, capital of Tunisia, where he studied, and in 1949, after the establishment of the State of Israel, he immigrated to Israel without his parents in the framework of Youth Aliyah. Shimon was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of January 1952. After his discharge from regular army service, he was occasionally called up for an active reserve duty. On September 19, 1969, Corporal Shimon was killed by enemy shelling. He left a wife, two daughters and two sons. He was laid to rest in the Gilat cemetery. His name is commemorated in the synagogue in Moshav Gilat, which was erected in memory of the fallen members of the moshav.
