Tzafrir, Yair
Ben Aya and Shlomo. He was born on the 17th of Cheshvan 5737 (November 12, 1973) in Gvat. Brother to Roni, Yael, Noa and Arnon. Yair studied at the elementary school in Gvat and continued at the “Western Valley” regional school in Kibbutz Yifat. At the end of November 1992, Yair enlisted in the IDF and was accepted to the Golani Brigade, where he completed a number of courses, including a sniper rifle course, a squad commanders’ course, and a rank officer. Yair was a platoon sergeant and sergeant in the reconnaissance unit of the Golani Brigade, and on January 31, 1995, Yair fell in battle in Lebanon, in a clash with terrorists in the Yatar area. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Gvat. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. Survived by his parents, three sisters and a brother. Towards the anniversary of the fall of Yair, a booklet was published in his memory.
