Tzadrin, Yosef (Pepo)


Was born in Monastir in southern Serbia (Yugoslavia) and was eight years old when his parents immigrated to Israel in 1933. As a child, his parents separated from him and returned to Europe, where he grew up in a family home, In Israel and took root in it. He completed elementary school, was in a youth training program in Nahalal and studied at the agricultural school in Tel Mond. When he reached maturity he served as a guard. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he moved from the Nutras to service in the “Kiryati” Brigade, without a break. Even though he did not know a parents’ home and was an orphan, he excelled as a cheerful and lively young man who always knew for himself and even interested and fascinated his friends. But the special conditions in which he grew up led him to an early maturity and an increased recognition of his responsibility in the active security service he chose. In the army he took part in activities in south Tel Aviv, in Yazur, and more. He also completed a commanders’ course. Joseph died in tragic circumstances in Kiryat Anavim on the 9th of Kislev 5709 (11.12.1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery ten days after his death, his father, who had not seen his son for 13 years, arrived in Israel.
