Tirosh, Yaakov
Son of-Gensia and Dov, was born on 9 August 1962 in Tel Aviv, where he was the eldest son of his family, and after graduating from elementary school he moved to the municipal high school. Yaakov completed 12 classes in an external school. Jacob was a music lover. He played an electric guitar and acoustically, and spent many hours playing. Before his enlistment in the IDF, Yaakov hoped to be accepted into a military orchestra, but he avoided giving the impression that he wanted to avoid service in a combat unit, and in September 1980 he enlisted in the IDF. On the northern border, Ya’akov served on the border, defending the northern communities, and joined his friends in the Hoshaya Forest in the Galilee on July 12, 1981. While on duty in his unit, he was shot by a different soldier. Yaakov was injured in an accident and killed. He was 19 years old. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. Jacob left behind his parents, brother and sister. In a letter of condolence to his family, the commander of his unit said: “Koby was a key member of the core, active, initiating and dedicated to the nuclear and the agriculture.
