Tell, Avraham
Son of George and a wedding. He was born on 16 July 1935 in the city of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. He began his studies there, and after immigrating to Israel he continued with them in an elementary school in Petah Tikva where he also studied for two years in a high school. He was a Gadna instructor in the town, and his brother, Mazza, as an electrician in the city, was drafted into the IDF in October 1954 and served in the Golani Brigade. He participated in almost all of the raids that the IDF conducted in 1955. During his service he aspired to join the paratroopers, but when he was not allowed to do so for various reasons he moved to an armored infantry unit in 1956. He participated in the Sinai Campaign and fell in battle at Abu- In Mershvan, July 1, 1956. He was buried in the Military Cemetery of the Emergency Army in Shelah and on the 28th of Tishrei 5718 (23.10.1957) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
