Tabaat, Ali
Son of Mahana and Jamila. Born in 1948 in the Druze village of Yarka in the Western Galilee. At the age of five, he began studying in the village’s elementary school and after graduating he continued to study at the agricultural school in Kfar Galim near Haifa. His ambition was to replace the old farming methods of the Druze villages with newer methods and thus develop agriculture . His friends and loved ones tell him that he always exchanged views with them not about the development of the agricultural sector in the Druze sector, but about the need for social advancement of the village and the possibilities of developing its life. During the four years of his studies in Kfar Galim, Ali became fond of all his teachers and friends and invited them to visit his house from time to time; Then he would present them with a festive meal and a great “fantasy” would be prepared for their enjoyment, which would be expressed in lively dancing, singing and singing in the air. On November 21, 1967, he was drafted into the IDF and completed his training period with honors and was drafted into the Minority Unit, where his commanders recognized him as a talented and outstanding soldier who advised him to advance in command. And then he died on March 24, 1968. He was brought to eternal rest in the village of Yarka, and the next day was the funeral of Ali, A large audience – IDF officers and soldiers, who belong to the community and know Druze and Jews; The students at the Kfar Galim school were also seen at the ceremony. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his parents: “Ali gave his life for his homeland when he was entrusted with protecting the security of his citizens, and he devotedly fulfilled his role to the point of sacrificing his soul.” In Musbah Halabi’s book “Blood Alliance,” his name was immortalized.
