Strick, Uri
Son of Shmuel and Esther. He was born on 28.6.1955 in Jerusalem and studied at the Beit HaYeled Elementary School and the ORT vocational school in Jerusalem, Uri’s childhood was spent in a variety of activities and was a member of the Scouts movement, He is active in various sports fields and is very interested in electric mechanics, and Ori guided a group of scouts and toured around Jerusalem, joining the swimming team of Hapoel and becoming the Jerusalem champion for youth in backgammon. Uri was part of Mavio Electronics, worked for a certain period of time in the Knesset as an amplification engineer, and at the electronics lab of the Hebrew University, Uri was a sensitive and righteous boy, He was willingly divided with all those around him, and at the beginning of May 1975, Uri was drafted into the IDF. Although he was already an electronics professional, Uri responded to the challenge when offered to be a pilot. He served as a pilot and an officer in the air force and was known for his ambition and high ability to perform. On the 10th of Iyar 5737 (May 10, 1977) Uri fell in the line of duty in a helicopter crash in the Jordan Valley. In this disaster, 54 soldiers were killed. Uri was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his father, mother and three brothers. In a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, Uri’s commander noted his high skills and his warm and warm attitude toward his comrades in the unit. Since 1978, a national swimming competition has been held in memory of the late Uri, on behalf of the Jerusalem Municipality and for the family.
