Steinhowicz, Yitzhak (Gingi)

Son of Nechama and Yerachmiel was born on October 7, 1930 in Tel-Aviv and had a traditional-religious education. Cheerful, kind, caring and devoted to the family, friendly and welcoming to his friends. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, Yitzhak joined the ranks of the fighters and was sent to a religious company as a combat soldier in Tel Aviv, and was transferred to Kfar Etzion for 3 months. He showed great concern for his family as evident in his letters on one hand, yet he also revered the youth who fought valiantly. Yitzhak fell in the fall of Kfar Etzion on the 4th of Iyar 5708 (13.5.1948). On the25th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949), along with the other victims of the Gush, he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
