Spiegel, Hanan (Nanny)


Son of Yehudit and Yehuda, was born on March 30, 1961 in Netanya. He began studying at the Be’eri Elementary School and completed his studies at the Sharett High School – both in Netanya. Hanan was very active in the social sphere and was surrounded by friends who loved him. He was active in sports, especially swimming, and was an amateur rescuer. Was involved in public affairs and joined the Civil Guard in Netanya. Hanan was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1979 and was sent to an aviation course, and was transferred to another IAF unit six months later, was trained as an electronic systems operator and sent to an officers’ course. His commander in the officers’ course noted that “Hanan stood out for his honesty and integrity, his dedication to studies and his great desire to succeed and achieve achievements.” After completing a course he made efforts to move to a combat unit, and after a while he was appointed as a liaison officer in the Paratroopers Brigade. During his stay in the battalion, Hanan was loved and accepted by commanders and soldiers, lively and lively. On the 26th of Sivan, 5762 (1962), in which Operation Peace for the Galilee was launched, Lieutenant-Colonel Hanan fell in combat in Lebanon and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. After his fall, he was promoted to lieutenant. Left parents and brother. At the Wingate Institute, Givat Hanan was inaugurated in his memory. The family also published a memorial book with a description of his fall and articles and poems in his memory.
