Smadarsman, Moshe (Alfred)


Moshe, son of Sicily and Baruch Smadarsman, was born on December 16, 1929 in Berlin, the capital of Germany. In 1935, he arrived in Israel on the Galilia, studied in Jerusalem and graduated from the Terra Santa School. Later he worked as a film technician. During the War of Independence, he enlisted in the Jerusalem Brigade and was sent with other members to reinforce the Gush Etzion defenders. On May 12, 1948, Arab Legion and Arab forces carried out a heavy attack on the Gush. The attack continued the following day and the enemy succeeded in conquering Gush Etzion. In these battles he fell on 3 Iyar, May 13, 1948. On November 17, 1949, he was brought to eternal rest in a mass grave in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
