Silberstein, Yakov
He arrived in Israel from France about a year before the War of Independence. He lived in Herzliya, worked as a laborer and was a member of the Haganah. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, at the beginning of December 1947, he enlisted and served in one of the companies in the Sharon. No information was given about his origin and his family, and apparently he had no relatives or acquaintances in Israel. His friends in military service found him highly educated, who knows his way without hesitation and does his duty without thinking much. He was a quiet guy, but withdrawn, simple and modest in his manner. Yaakov served in the “Alexandroni” Brigade and fell in Kafr Kara in Wadi Ara, on April 8, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya
