Silberman, Ephraim
Son of Moshe. He was born in 1907 in the city of Iasi, Romania. He immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1930 and settled in Haifa. Ephraim was hired by the Palestine Railways and worked with devotion and loyalty. Despite the many Arab attacks on the railway lines, he did not hesitate to go anywhere and fulfill his role. During the period of the bloody riots of 1936-1938, a group of Jewish workers was attacked who worked on repairing the tracks along the Haifa-Acre railway line, near the large mills, by Arab rioters. Ephraim was wounded and was taken to Hadassah Hospital, where he died of his wounds on 1 Elul, 28.8.1938. He was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery and left a pregnant wife, father and mother. His memory is mentioned in the pamphlet put out by his yishuv.
