Shulman, Yisrael

Yisrael Shulman, son of Chaya and Reuven, was born in 1927 in Chelm, Poland, and in 1927, at the age of ten, his family immigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in Jerusalem. With the outbreak of the bloody riots in 1936 he was one of the first conscripts to enlist in the Guardians Brigade and was one of the guards of the trains. He served in Haifa and other places in Israel. On the 15th of Sivan (June 2, 1939), he went out with a guard car to inspect the railroad tracks. Next to Jaljulia the guards were attacked by an Arab gang and Yisrael was shot and killed on the spot. He was laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery in Tel Aviv.
