Shulman, Yaakov Azriel (Jacques)


Son of Sophia and Noah Noel, was born on 14.1.1928 in Paris, the capital of France. In his youth he emigrated with his family to America and studied for three years in a high school in New York. He accepted his Jewish Lev and his belief in the right of his people and volunteered for the Haganah service. After serving 18 months in the US Army as a guide, he traveled to France and took part in a training camp of the Haganah near Marseilles. From there he immigrated to Israel on July 28, 1948, in a convoy of foreign volunteers from Palestine, served in the Negev Brigade and took part in the battles, and fell during the conquest of Beersheba on October 21, 1948. On the 16th of Av, (11.8.1949) was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
