Shmuel, Yoram
Ben-Batsheva and Ralph. Was born on October 15, 1962 in India as one of a pair of twins born to their parents. Before he was one year old, he immigrated to Israel with his family, who settled in Dimona. He began his studies at the Yoseftal Elementary School, went on to the Yigal Alon Middle School and graduated from the Lehman High School in mechanics, he had varied hobbies and talents and was a basketball fan and participated in many tournaments. The traditional musical “Tabla”, another artistic field that excelled in painting, was able to decorate halls for parties, and his family was also gifted with cooking and baking, especially with a wonderful presentation of all the delicacies he prepared. In July 1983, and was assigned to serve in the Ordnance Corps as a turret technician in a tank. During his service he participated in the Peace-Galilee War. At the end of his regular service, he retired from the army and tried to find his way in civilian life, but a year later, in 1987, he accepted the battalion commander’s request to return to service and returned to the army. In August 1991 he married Sigalit. The couple settled in the Ramla-Lod area. Yoram fell in the course of his duty on the afternoon of Nissan 5753 (2.4.1993) in a road accident at the Tapuah junction, on his way to the base and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Lod. He left behind a pregnant woman, mother, eight sisters and four brothers – Dina, Yehudit, Rina, Shula, Rivka, Hadassah, Yaffa, Dalia, Yochanan, Meir, Tzvi and Oren. Two months after his death, his son was born a colleague. In a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, his commander noted Yoram’s professionalism, his dedication to the job, his modesty, his good manners, and his admiration for his friends. His widow immortalized his memory in the synagogue in Yahud. The family wanted to publish a book “Yizkor” commemorating his memory.
