Shlimovitch, Eldad (“Dedi”)


Son of Deborah and Benjamin. He was born on March 9, 1969, in Ramat Gan. Eldad, whom everyone called ‘Dedi’, was a handsome boy and a favorite of his surroundings. He began his studies at the “Aliyot” elementary school and continued at the “Galei Ghettos” elementary school in Ramat Gan. He was admired by his teachers and friends. He studied at the ORT high school in Ramat Gan for three years, then continued for three years in the automotive mechanics program at the Mossinson High School in Hod Hasharon, where he completed his high school studies as a technician, and was a smiling boy who helped his friends and everything else. He was proud of his achievements as a certified technician and dreamed of opening an electronics laboratory in partnership with a friend, and he applied for engineering studies at Tel Aviv University. In May 1988 he was drafted into the IDF and served as a tank mechanic Ordnance Corps. Dedi fell during his duty on the 16th of Adar 5751 (March 2, 1991) and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and two brothers – Aharon and Eyal. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “For over two years, Eldad served in our unit – a good friend, an excellent professional, always willing to help anyone and every task and always with a smile on his lips.”
