Shemaiah, Shimon

Son of Shalom and Naomi. He was born on the fifteenth of Shvat 5728 (6/29/2828) in Sana’a, in Yemen, and immigrated to Israel in 1929. He was then one year old. Graduated from elementary school. He belonged to Hanoar Haoved and later to Gadna, and was a member of Haganah since the age of 15. During the War of Independence he participated in all the battles for the defense of Jerusalem (Atarot, Yemin Moshe, Neve Ya’akov and others). He fell during the performance of his duties on the 15 th of Tishrei 5710 (15.10.1949). He was buried in the cemetery in Sheik Badar Bet and on the 17th of Sivan 5721 (21.6.1951) he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left a wife.
