Sharez, Amos


Son of Malka and Yehuda, was born on 21 July 1927 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. In his youth he studied in a French school, finished high school and began working as a clerk. In 1944 he joined Hashomer Hatzair, went to the kibbutz as part of Aliyah Bet and immigrated to Israel in British army uniform on April 15, 1946. He spent a year in Kibbutz Kfar Menachem and a half year in Tel Amal. On May 1, 1947, he joined Kibbutz Nachshonim. Elem was a moderate, serious and disciplined man. He worked in the vegetable garden and cartels, where he specialized while still in Tel Amal, and was chosen to serve as an orderly. He worked for a short time in a labor company in Zichron Ya’akov, and with the determination of the permanent settlement in Hazla in the Negev, was one of the first immigrants to the area. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, he was attached to his energetic demand for the agriculture department in the Negev, whose job was to protect the convoys and roads. In preparation for the second truce to take effect, Operation “Death to the Intruder” was carried out with the aim of breaking through the Negev. Amos was a force that attacked the outposts of Hulikat, but without success. This battle fell on the 11th of Tammuz 5708 (18.7.1948). Buried in the wind. His memory was included in the booklet “On the way to the outpost” of Kibbutz Nachshonim. On the 26th of Tammuz 5766 (26.6.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kfar Warburg.
