Shamai, Shlomo


Son of Sarah and Meir. Shlomo was born at the Rothschild Hospital in Haifa on May 24, 1950. He studied at the Alliance School in Haifa and completed twelve years of study in 1968. In 1968 he enlisted in the regular army service and served as a driver in the Transportation Corps. In 1971, Shlomo married Leah Rosenbaum from Kiryat Gat and they established their home in Haifa. In early 1974, Keren, his eldest daughter, was born. In 1978 Dorit was born, his second daughter. In 1983, Meital, the third daughter, was born, and a year later his son Meir was born. Shlomo loved his children very much and they loved him. At the end of 1974, Shlomo enlisted in the Israel Police. He began his service in the Border Police and served there for five years. At the end of 1978 Shlomo went to serve in the “Blue” police force. He first served in a port in Haifa and then moved to border control, where he was until his death. Shlomo died on Friday, 7 February 1997. On his way to work, Shlomo was found dead in his car by his friends who went to look for him after he did not come to work. He was buried in the military section of the Kiryat Motzkin cemetery, leaving a wife and four children
