Shai, Lior
Son of Mazal and Moti (Mordechai). Born on the 19th of Adar, March 14, 1982 in Kfar Sava. On July 19, 2000 Lior joined the Air Force. In 2002, Lior completed his pilot course in the Saar helicopter training course, and to his happiness he received his request and began serving as a helicopter pilot in the Yasur 118 Squadron, the Dorsey Night Squadron at Tel Nof Base. In 2009 he returned to the army as deputy commander of the second squadron in the “Night Squads. In July 2010, Lior left for South-West Romania as part of a cooperation between the armies. On the 15th of Av, July 26, 2010, during training and foggy weather in the Carpathian Mountains, the Yasur helicopter crashed where Lior was staying and all his men were killed. Major Lior Shai fell in this operational activity. He was twenty-eight years old. He was laid to rest in the Neveh Hadar military cemetery in Hod Hasharon. Survived by a wife, son, parents, sister and brother.
