Many of his free hours devoted to reading professional literature, because he always aspired to learn and expand his professional knowledge. In his work in the cotton industry he made sure everything was done at the time, but he did not see the last harvest. It was not only the work that occupied him, but also the matters of the spirit. He used to participate in conversations about problems of education, army service, social problems and group values, and even gave his time to the activities of the youth group established in the group. He was active in the meetings of the group, and his words were particularly insistent on the integrity of action, opposition to compromise and love for agriculture. Always said that put the group problems before the individual problems. He loved humane and classical literature, read it and everything written about the country until the establishment of the state, the War of Independence and everything that followed. He read this list at the graduation party. After his release from regular service he returned to his group. At the beginning of August 1969, Oded was called to active reserve duty. On the 24th of Elul 5729 (August 24, 1969), he fell while serving in the Jordan Valley, leaving a wife and two young girls to rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Yifat, and his teacher wrote about him after he fell: “Oded was a boy of an original and interesting personality, Internal sensitivity, intelligent and talented, and above all has a positive and serious sense of criticism. Every field would pass its examination and criticism, whether conceptual, educational or social, and when he drew his conclusions, they were always balanced, interesting and mature. He became one of the pillars of the class and one of the main characters that everything was built around. The attribute I most admired was his human sensitivity. He was a good friend, a positive classmate and, above all, a boy of conscience and inner truth. “After his fall, a booklet entitled Oded was published in his memory.
