Sela (Steinberg), Pinchas (“Pini”)


Son of Avraham and Reizel. He was born on October 9, 2222 in the city of Nitra, Czechoslovakia, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1938 as part of the Youth Aliya as a Yeshiva student, and continued to study at the Heichal HaTalmud in 1938. During the Second World War In 1942, he volunteered for the Jewish Brigade and spent the rest of the war in Italy, where he devoted himself to painting his favorite art, and when he returned to Israel he completed his painting at Avni Studio in Tel Aviv. In battles until the end of the war. On the 28th of Tevet 5711 (December 28, 1950), while on duty, he was absent from his unit and only a few days later his body was found south of Be’er Sheva. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. Gilad is named after him on Rosh Zohar, opposite Arad.
