Shmuel, son of Shoshana and Zvi-Herman, was born on May 6, 1951, in Moisatzil, Argentina, from a tender age, his unique character, his interest and his search for the good and the Yaffa, When he was three years old, he demanded to learn to read and write, and when he was not asked, he learned with the help of the calendar, gathering the neighborhood’s children and his younger brothers and becoming the group’s guide and teacher. He taught them nature and geography, wrote and composed songs, performed plays, played guitar and singing, and in his youth he invented an international language, he says. Move wars in the world. Together with the gaiety natural, it also had a hint of sadness. One day, when he was seven years old, returned from school and burst into tears. When asked parents to reconcile crying, said: “The teacher asked the students to wrap their notebooks. When she checked the covers, it turned out that one of the students had wrapped himself in newspaper. The teacher ripped the envelope angrily and threw it in the trash. “Shmulik was stunned by her behavior and hurt the child’s insult:” How did she not feel that his mother might not have had money to buy a wrapper? “Although the family had no Jewish community, In 1962, the family immigrated to Israel and settled in Kibbutz Ashdot-Ya’akov Meuhad, where Shmuel studied in the kibbutz elementary school and later in the regional high school in Beit Yerah. His absorption in the kibbutz was difficult because of his sensitivity. He lacked his quiet, lonely corner. He was alien to the customs of the kibbutz and disturbed him to interweave his dreams. He could not compromise with his surroundings, but he managed to endear himself to his friends, and gradually learned to get used to his special character. After completing his studies, he went on to teach in the Mahanei Ha’olim movement in Haifa. He was a devoted guide who loved his apprentices and they loved him. At home he used to call them “my children.” When he came home for vacations, the house would be full of joy. He would take the guitar in his hand, grab his sisters in his hands and command them: “Build fast! Sing!” And the whole house was full of singing and joy of life. He loved his sisters very much and always took care of their education, helped them with their homework, and helped them with their social problems. Shmuel was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1970 and assigned to the infantry corps, where he underwent a course for infantry commanders, a course for infantry and sabotage officers, and all the courses were completed with excellent grades. “His belief was that the soldier should not obey blindly, but rather as a result of the educator’s educational influence and internal discipline. He gave us a Torah of life. The human attitude he gave us toward life remains deep in our hearts. “Shmulik, or Sela, as many called it, did not look for greatness and fortune, hoping to return to the farm, orchard, and work in the land he loved so much, From the Golan Heights. On the 8th of Tishrei 5734 (October 8, 1973) he was hit and fell in the first battle on the Hermon. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Ashdot Yaakov. Survived by his parents, five sisters and two brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to lieutenant. Mordechai Gur, described the incident: “In the first battle over the Hermon, with the clash of Syrian forces, the late Shmuel Sela skipped along with two other soldiers and came close to the Syrian positions, Thus, they were prevented from attacking a reconnaissance force that fought in their vicinity.
