Segal, Moshe


Son of Shimon and Chava. Born in Tel Aviv on the 4th of Elul, August 15, 1934. He completed his elementary studies in Shfeya and later went on to study at the Maritime School in Haifa. He was drafted into the IDF in September 1952 and volunteered for the Navy. In compulsory service, he attained the rank of sergeant. Afterward he continued to serve as a mechanic. In 1956, shortly after taking part in the battle with Ibrahim al-Awal (and was the first to operate the machine of the captive ship and sail it under the Israeli flag), Moshe was sent to a course for captains. He was promoted to the rank of Major. During the Six-Day War, he served in the Haifa branch of the Israel Defense Forces. Moshe spent most of his energies and talents to take care of the” lower classes “. Moshe was sent abroad to study in mechanical engineering and was about to finish his studies at the Hebrew Technion, where he was an outstanding student. He fell on the 9th of Tishrei, October 1, 1968. He left a wife and two children. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
