Schwartz, Gershon


Son of Neta and Esther. He was born on April 6, 1948 in Szczecum, Poland. When he was about a year and a half old, his parents immigrated to Israel with him. When he reached school age, he began to study at the “Osha” elementary school in Ramat Gan and after graduating he studied for one year at the Krinitzi Carpentry School. He belonged to the Hanoar Haoved movement and was a guide there. He excelled in his great devotion to the family and his concern for his parents, his older brother and grandmother, and helped the family in all its livelihood and all its other needs. He read a lot and was a music buff. He was drafted into the IDF in May 1966. He attained the rank of sergeant and served as the commander of the infantry division, under the guidance of recruits, some of whom were assigned more positions than those who fit his rank, With the support of the IDF, completed his education and prepared to receive his matriculation certificate as an academic student. During his compulsory service, he was on a regular vacation and found his death on the Petah Tikva-Tel Aviv road (near Beilinson Hospital); This was on the 20th of Tammuz 5728 (20.7.1968). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
