Schneider, Moshe
Son of Rachel and Israel, was born in 1929 in the city of Bialystok, Poland and was one of the survivors after the war and the Holocaust. In 1946 he came to Israel as part of the Youth Aliyah and was sent to education and training in Ayelet Hashahar. At the beginning of the War of Independence he was drafted there with his friends and sent to Mount Canaan, near Ein Zeitim. From there he fled to his relative in Bnei Brak, and when he protested his evasion he showed up at the recruitment center in Ramat Gan and was sent to serve in the Galilee in the Carmeli Brigade. In time the soldier became a disciplined fighter. During the second truce, Kaukji forces unexpectedly attacked the Sheikh-Abed outpost near Manara and he fell into their hands. On the same day, the Carmeli forces conducted a counter-attack, but without success. This battle fell on the 19th of Tishrei, 5709 (22.10.1948). He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
