Scal, Alfred


Son of Laura and Leopold. Born in the village of Snytsz, near Brin, Czechoslovakia, in 1938, he settled in Tel Mond, where he worked in citrus orchards and in mechanics. In 1940, he moved to Haifa, where he worked as a mechanic for a short period of time, and was unemployed for a period of two years. He married a widow. Noah, was full of devotion and love of others. Two months after his marriage, he enlisted in the British army and was assigned to transport company 462, where he advanced quickly and received the rank of sergeant. Was sent to Egypt and from there was sent to the Western Desert On 27 Nisan, May 1, 1943, he and his company were found on a ship carrying 1,200 Allied soldiers to Malta, and in a large attack of the enemy planes the ship sank within a few minutes. He left a wife. In the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, a ship-shaped monument was erected in memory of those who were missing.
