Sasson, Yosef (Yossi)


Son of Shoshana and Naim, was born on December 23, 1954, in Tel Aviv. Yossi studied at the Bar-Giora Elementary School in Tel Aviv and continued his studies in the junior high school and high school of the Boyar boarding school in Jerusalem. He completed his matriculation exams at an external school. In May 1973, Yossi enlisted in the IDF, where he underwent basic training and was assigned to serve in an infantry unit. During his service, Yossi advanced in positions and ranks. At the end of his regular service, he continued to serve in the regular army until he was discharged with the rank of sergeant. In June 1980, Yossi was called up for reserve duty, for battalion training. On the 28th of Sivan 5740 (12.6.1980), while on duty, he drove his vehicle to the base of his unit. On the way, near the Gan Yavne junction, Yossi bumped into a civilian bus and was killed. He was 25 years old. Yossi was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. He left behind his sister and brother.
