Samara, Chaim-Yaakov
Chaim-Yaakov, son of Shoshana and Yitzhak Samara, was born on February 3, 1932 in Jerusalem. He served as a sergeant in the Gadna and the Haganah, and because of his young age his parents wanted to dissuade him from enlisting, but he did not listen to them and joined the ranks immediately after the outbreak of the War of Independence. On 4 Sivan, June 11, 1948, he was sent to work with his comrades in the company, and on his return from there, one hour before the beginning of the first truce, he was hit by a shell. That same day he died in the hospital and was buried in Sanhedria. On September 19, 1951, he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
