Saldinger, Aryeh (Leon)


Aryeh, son of Miriam and Yaakov Saldinger, was born in 1927 in Alexandria, Egypt. After a short trip to Israel he enthusiastically adhered to the idea of ​​redeeming the land, returned to Egypt, and began to work for the founding of the Halutzim-Magshimim group. In 1947, he decided to fulfill his aspirations, left his parents and immigrated to Israel on June 25, 1947, with a core group of members of his movement, and spent his training period in Kibbutz Dan. During the battles of the “Ten Days”, on 11 Tamuz, 18.7.1948, Aryeh fell in an attack on the Hulikat outposts and was buried in Ruchama. On 26.6.1950, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Varburg.
