Reuven (Israel), son of Janet and Menahem, was born in 1954 in Tunis and in 1957 immigrated to Israel with his grandfather and grandmother, who took care of him. After two years of vocational studies, he began working as an electrician with various employers. Israel waited impatiently for his enlistment in the IDF and told his grandmother: “Look, you will not hear a single complaint against me in the army.” Israel fulfilled its promise, and Israel was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1972 and volunteered to serve in the Armored Corps. After basic training, he was transferred to the Armored Corps School and was employed as a tank driver and a courier. He felt good in the army among friends who loved him and spent his free time with them. The army was the one frame in which he was really happy. On the Day of Atonement, on October 6, 1973, he set out for the Suez Canal with his battalion, which was sent to participate in the progress of the Egyptians. Zion, next to the grave of his father – his efforts, Bezalel Boria, who was seriously injured in the braking battles against the Egyptians and died of burns after two weeks. Israel was promoted from 6.10.1973 to the rank of corporal.
