Sahlo, Abraham
The eldest son of Yaffa and Nathan. He was born on April 27, 1982 at the Chacella Hospital in Gondar, Ethiopia, to Yitzhak, David, Rafi, Sapir, Hodaya and Sharon. The family immigrated to Israel in 1984. The family moved to Jerusalem in 1984. For about a year, they lived in Gilo in temporary housing and then moved to a home in the Ramot neighborhood. The family settled there, and Abraham, my father by all means, studied at the Nahalat Yehuda school, and he proved to be a wise and intelligent student and excelled at his studies. Adapting to the new country and language, he spared no effort, invested and persevered, and completed twelve years of high achievement in his matriculation exams. His outstanding qualities were the desire to help and the ability to behave respectfully in every person and in any situation. “Avi joined the Border Police on 21 March 2002 and served at the Border Police training base in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood. He was proud of his role and loved his service. On the 23rd of Tammuz 5762 (23.6.2002) my father fell during his service in a terrible car accident that occurred near his home. A whole life was cut off and his family and friends were left stunned and distraught. My father was twenty years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by parents and six brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of chief policeman. His family wrote: “We are continuing life, but they will never be the same again, like in a puzzle that is missing and can not be completed, so my father is missing us.
