Sabag, Abraham

Ben Yakut and Yahya was born on the 25th of Tevet 5719 (25.12.1958) in Eilat. Avraham attended the religious elementary school in Eilat, and continued to study until the tenth grade in high school. Then, he went to work. Avraham was a member of Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed. For a short time he studied carpentry and even worked in a furniture factory in Eilat. Afterward, he became involved in nursing work, as a practical nurse in the hospital in Eilat. Avraham wanted to study in a hospital in Rehovot, but was forced to change his plans in November 1976, when he joined the IDF and served in the Armored Corps. Avraham underwent training in basic training, took a number of courses in the corps and passed tests successfully. Following the injury to his knee, he was transferred from a combat unit to a rearguard position. Avraham succeeded in his position, and in February 1979 he was awarded the rank of corporal, and was hospitalized in early August 1979. His condition did not improve even after an operation was performed, and on 30 August 1979 he died. An expert committee, which examined him to find the reasons for his death, could not find them. Avraham was laid to rest in the military section of the Eilat cemetery. He was 21 years old when he died. He left behind his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
