Son of Tzippora and Menahem was born on 20 November 1931 in Lodz, Poland, to a Zionist family, where he learned only one year at school and in 1939, with the outbreak of World War II, After the Stalin-Sikorski agreement he escaped with his parents to the Russian occupation area. in 1942 immigrated to Eretz Israel, with a convoy of the “Tehran children.” ReuSon of was educated for four years in an immigrant youth movement in Kibbutz Degania B. In 1946, he moved to Jerusalem, studied as a driver and joined the Palmach. In the winter of 1948, at the outbreak of the War of Independence, he accompanied convoys on the roads to Tel Aviv and Gush Etzion as a member of the Palmach battalion. He took part in rescuing the wounded under the collapse of the National Institutions building. On the 27th of Adar 2, 5708 (March 27, 1948), a large convoy left Jerusalem for Gush Etzion and after unloading its cargo, turned to return. Meanwhile, the Arab forces managed to organize and set up checkpoints on the road. Reuven was in the armored vehicle that managed to break through a number of roadblocks, but near al-Khadar, about two kilometers south of Bethlehem, he encountered a large roadblock that he could not get over and was stuck in the area. In the evening, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the armored vehicle, and three people who had not been injured were rescued and the commander blew up the armored vehicle, including Reuven, so that they would not fall into the hands of the soldiers.
