Rothschild, Lior

He was born on January 5, 1982 in Ramat Gan, a sandwich boy between his two sisters, Keren and Nitzan, two months after he was born, Yossi was conscripted for reserve duty during the ‘Shalom to the Galilee’ war. When he was a child, Lior was a quiet boy who did not speak very much, but his eyes expressed wisdom and knowledge: “Lior asks the smartest questions from all the kindergarten children.” Lior completed his elementary education at the Yahelam School garden. A mischievous student, an outstanding athlete and a child, he loves all the teachers and friends in the school. Lior played basketball at Maccabi Ramat Gan and was active in the Scouts movement. He liked reading and film. At the graduation ceremony of eighth grade, the teacher described him as “this child is something.” In July 2000, Lior completed his high school education at the Ohel Shem school in Ramat Gan, as a student and an outstanding athlete. Lior was a boy who had everything, handsome, smart, ambitious, playful and sensitive, with a charismatic and sweeping personality who fascinated everyone. He always had an attentive ear to all his friends and friends, and he was very calm and humble. Friendship and friendship were the essence of his life. In high school, he helped his friends in the real professions he excelled in. Lior graduated with honors in chemistry. Before the induction, Lior managed to travel with his classmates to a vacation week in Greece and defined adolescence as the best time of his life. His friends say about him: “He was actually the heart, he was not a declared leader or a big clown, but he was the heart, that good guy you always knew if he was with you then it would be all right.You always knew he’d advise and say the right thing.” In November 2000, Lior was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the paratroopers unit, completed a full course in Battalion 202, completed a course with honors, joined the assistant, and within a short time he was appointed commander of the company. Lior was an accepted soldier and loved his comrades in the company. He was brave and very confident. In the last month of his service he was the happiest. Everything in his eyes was wonderful, the place, the friends and even the weather. He fulfilled every task with all his heart and with all seriousness. Sela, his direct commander, said that Lior’s ability and investment stood out despite his modesty. He always wanted to learn and pushed himself into every possible activity. Above all, he was concerned about friends and soldiers. When asked about Lior as a young commander, Sela responded: “He may be young but a cannon.” On 27 August 2002, Lior fell in the army cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind his parents and two sisters, and his friend from the ‘ Ohel Shem wrote in the school newspaper: “I want you to know that you touched me and influenced me, that you made me want to be a better person, a person like you, who thinks about others and can not harm anyone else.
