Yigal, son of Miriam and Yoav, was born on April 13, 1951, in Haifa, where he studied at the “Reali” School in the 1950s, and was a member of the Bnei- Akiva, “even before he was a counselor in the movement, was prominent in his ability to concentrate a great deal of activity around him, and Yigal liked to tour Israel and study its sites, and he knew her well and caught up with his love for his friends: Once, on a night tour, when he guided his apprentices from Nahal Alexander to Givat Olga in the rain and the wind, Yigal changed the tour plan and housed the campers inside the buildings of Ki Empty. When they got home bothered to pay for damage caused there and called each trip participants, make sure that none of them applies. Until he joined the IDF coordinated the operation branch “Carmel” of the “Bnei Akiva” Haifa. Yigal was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1969. He was posted to the Nahal Brigade and was attached to the “Hagshama” nucleus of Bnei Akiva, which was intended to join Ramat Magshimim in the southern Golan Heights. During his service, he completed a parachuting course and a squadron commander’s course and served in the Nahal Brigade. During his service he served with his battalion in the Nahal-Argaman and Nahal-Al outposts, and served as a tractor and morning operator in Ramat Magshimim. Yigal concentrated his nucleus and from the letters of his friends it is possible to learn how much everyone loved him. It was an address for every wish and could help and encourage when needed. At the same time, he did not abandon his students in the Haifa movement, and maintained contact with everyone. At the end of July 1972, Yigal was discharged from the regular service and after his discharge he served as a counselor in criminal juvenile justice, in preparation for the criminology studies at Bar-Ilan University. One of the lecturers testified: “Yigal was a student in an introductory course in sociology, which had dozens of students, and he attracted my attention from the beginning of the year.” His impressive appearance, precise words and outstanding answers placed him at the center of every discussion. During his university vacations, he continued to teach at Bnei Akiva and organized camps and excursions. He had a lot to do with knowledge of the country and photography, and his enthusiasm for discovering new corners and spectacular sights throughout the country never faded. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Yigal was called to serve from the synagogue, and when he packed his belongings, he doubted whether he was permitted to take tefillin on Yom Kippur. With his patrol battalion fighting in the central sector of the Suez Canal, and at Yigal Yigal’s bread at the Chinese Farm. The commander of the company, Maj. Gideon Friedman, said: “The night of 15.10 found us moving first through the sand dunes, towards the expected point of success – the connection between the small bitter lake and the lake When we reached the road parallel to the canal, which was then called the “lexicon”, we turned right and headed north into the “Chinese farm.” We headed west toward the canal, on an axis called “Chic” “The headquarters of the Egyptian division were answered, while the entire area, including the route, was flooded with Egyptian tools, and only after a kilometer of traffic on the route did we begin The Egyptians were stunned and confused, unable to digest and understand the presence of an Israeli armored force in their midst, and hit dozens of Egyptian vessels – armored personnel carriers, tanks and a large vehicle. The entire region is burning – when we are surprised by our successes, and we have – until this point – one dead and one wounded. Here my driver was slightly hurtAnd he could not drive anymore. Yigal moved over to me from his tool, and took his place next to the steering knobs. Now, the tool began to move. He acted coolly and logically, as if silence was everywhere-not a burning hell. An hour later, it turned out that the units that followed us into the Egyptian forces encountered very strong resistance and suffered losses in vehicles, weapons, and personnel. We were called to rescue them, and then – during the rescue phase we absorbed most of our losses, including Rafi Bar-Lev, the company commander, and we took the injured in the Yigal armored personnel carrier, and he went with them to the road from which he did not return. “Yigal was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa And was followed by his parents, brother, and two sisters, who was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and his commander wrote: “His actions and perseverance in this long war served his comrades as a source of strength. Was beloved and accepted by his friends and commanders. “His parents wrote a Torah scroll for his soul and published a pamphlet in his memory, and a Bible study group, whose parents participated in it, called the Yigal Bible Study Circle. Bible study among students in towns and development towns in the north of the country. Every year, on the eve of Memorial Day for IDF Fallen Soldiers, the Department holds a competition for Bible proficiency among the students of the settlements – in memory of Yigal and the fallen soldiers of Israel.
