Rosenblum, Assaf (Spike)


Son of Rachel and Moshe, was born on May 14, 1927 in Tel Aviv. When he was three, the family moved to Haifa. Where he studied in the kindergarten and then began to study at the Reali School. In his youth, he belonged to the Scouts movement and even guided it. In his childhood, he aspired to agriculture and dreamed of settling, and in the sixth grade he left school to go to study at the agricultural school in Mikvah Israel, which he graduated with honors in 1956. On his 18th birthday he wrote in his diary: “I make a statement that will obligate me in the future: My life to the nation. “At Mikveh Israel, he edited the nuclear newspaper Aluma, which published many lists and poems. His group was particularly prominent: “He appeared as a dreamer, and he was certain of their fulfillment,” as written in the diary of Gvat. During his service in the Palmach he completed a course for commanders and was active in the Haganah. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he moved to Yigur, from there to the Galilee and Rosh Pina. He served in the Yiftach Brigade and participated in many battles. Assaf fell on the 15th of Iyar 5708 (May 15, 1948) during the conquest of Malkia in order to block an invasion route from Lebanon and was buried in Ayelet Hashahar. (21.9.1949) was transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Haifa.
