Rosenberg, Ephraim-Zvi
Ephraim-Zvi, son of Rachel and Baruch, was born on July 12, 1954, in Rehovot, to parents who went through seven generations of hell in Europe. He was the first child in a new homeland whose parents came to her after the horrors of the ghettos and camps, where they lost all their families and property, and all that was dear to them. Their eldest son was named Efraim-Tzvi after his murdered grandfathers, in order to perpetuate their memory and to express their faith and recognition of the historical continuity of the Jewish people. They raised and raised their son in the tradition of the Jewish tradition of Torah, mitzvot and good deeds. He completed his elementary studies at the Tachkemoni school in Rehovot and completed high school studies at the Nahalim Yeshiva. Later he studied at the hesder yeshivah Kerem B’Yavneh. As a young child, his family and friends were already fond of character traits of charm and modesty. He was very gentle and very kind. The Sages of blessed memory, for example, had three character traits for Abraham’s descendants: mercy, shyness, and benevolence, and he was gifted with a fair mind and a subtle discernment.In his Yeshivat Nehalim his views crystallized and his lines of personality became clear and firm, He tried to combine yeshiva studies with high physical fitness, running and athletics, and did not give up his participation in Bnei Akiva’s activity in Rehovot. Ephraim was drafted into the IDF in early February 1973 and asked to serve in the naval commando or the paratroopers’ paratroopers . After basic training, and after trying his strength in the commando unit, he decided to move to another combat direction, and completed his studies in the tank. He was assigned to the Patton tank gunner in an armored unit. As a soldier, he was loved by all his friends in the unit, whom he affectionately called “red.” He did what he was forced to do with conviction and great will, and was weak in body and spirit. The Bible, including a book of psalms in particular, did not depart from his hand, and he maintained a religious way of life in all conditions, and devoted his free time to routine reading of science books, expanding his general knowledge as a man. The Yom Kippur War broke out when Efraim was in a state of transcendence, fasting, and prayer, and on the 7th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973) he was summoned to the aid of a tank that had been hit, and in an attempt to rescue him, The southern part of the Suez Canal, was first declared as a space whose burial place was unknown, and only two months later he was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Rehovot. Who was followed by a mother and sister, and was promoted to the rank of corporal, and his family donated a Torah scroll to commemorate his name.
