Rosen, Hanan

Hanan, son of Rachel and Zvi, was born on 24 July 1954. In Jerusalem. At the age of two, the family moved to Givatayim, where Hanan completed his elementary studies at the David Shimoni School. He was a lively and kind boy, loved by everyone with his broad smile and his ability to conjure up all his experiences in painting. From an early age his talent in painting was discovered, and he devoted his time and energy to art, and his studies were later damaged. He continued his high school studies at the Reali Gymnasium in Bnei Brak, in the field of graphics. But here he did not settle for the material he was taught and therefore left school, enrolled in the course and took the matriculation exams in an external framework. Hanan loved music of all kinds. He could sit in his room for hours and listen to his records, which included different types of music, from classical to pop. He had the forces of art that sought out and he poured out his Lev with a brush and paint. Although he had not yet determined the area to occupy himself, it was clear that upon completing his service in the army he would choose the art industry to suit his wishes. Hanan was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1972 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he underwent basic training and then took a course in driver and artillery. On October 16, 1973, his tank was hit and he was killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the then Minister of Defense, Moshe Dayan, wrote: “Please allow me to participate with all my Lev in the mourning of taking away Hanan. Hanan Rosen gave his life for his homeland. He served in the Armored Corps and was an excellent soldier and a loyal friend, fond of his commanders and comrades in arms. The memory of the late Hanan Rosen is holy and we were deeply rooted in our hearts.
