Rosen, Amnon


Son of Utah and Reuven, was born on May 9, 1960 in Haifa. He studied at the Reali elementary school and continued to study at the Municipal School in Haifa. Even when he was a little boy he excelled in math. In junior high he studied computers and mathematics in the youth courses at the Technion. When he was 12, he took part in a national chess competition held in Rehovot. After graduating from middle school, Amnon chose to study in an open experimental school, and in one year he studied two years of material. At the age of 16, he moved to the “Yad Natan” agricultural school in Acre, where he completed his studies as an outstanding student and received a degree in water and soil engineering. During his studies at the school, he belonged to the Scout movement and served as a counselor and coordinator of a group of students and instructors. He studied music and played the piano well. Amnon also drew and wrote short stories. He loved trips, nature and entertainment in society. In time he bought a motorcycle and toured it in Israel. He had a rich collection of stamps and he cultivated diligently. In July 1978 Amnon enlisted in the IDF and served in a field unit, but his ambition was to serve as a pilot in the IAF, and was sent to a pilot course, which he completed as an outstanding trainee. In August 1984, he married and lived in an air force base in the south. On December 6, 1984, Amnon left for Mitzpe Ramon in the direction of Be’er Sheva. Near Ketziot, his car veered off the road, overturned and Amnon was killed. He was 24 when he died. After his fall, he was promoted to lieutenant. Amnon was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa. He left behind a wife, a mother and three brothers
