Roll, Yaakov (“Yankele”)


Son of Yosef and Hannah. He was born on September 13, 1952 in Petah Tikva. He attended the Aliyah elementary schools in Kfar Sava and Solomon in Petah Tikva. Yaakov began his high school studies at the “Brenner High School” in Petah Tikva and Seiman in the regional high school of Shaar Hanegev, and was drafted into the IDF in May 1970 and volunteered for the Israel Air Force. He paid a course in aircraft and helicopter technicians and finished successfully. His commanders admired him as a very good professional, dedicated and responsible, with high self-confidence, friendly and acceptable to his friends. At the end of his regular service, Yaakov volunteered to serve for another three years in the career army and continued to advance in his position and ranks. On the 27th of Iyar 5734 (27.4.1974), Jacob fell in his military duties in the north of the country, and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Petah Tikva, leaving a mother and sister in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family. He is a generous young man, a fresh and laughing sabra character, with a developed sense of justice, an initiative and resourcefulness, dedicated, loyal and decent. Jacob was the first rank of the squadron mechanic and served as a leader and model for his comrades. As such, Yaakov was chosen to be included in the operational squadrons of the squadron, a right given to the best and the best. “
