Roifer, Chaim (Ozer Rabin)
Was born on May 3, 1919, in the city of Zagorica, in Srebrenica. At the age of 15, he immigrated to Israel with his parents and siblings. Chaim participated in the battles at the head of his division in Tiberias, Tantura, Haifa, Acre, Jenin, Birwa and more, first in his battalion and later in another battalion in the Carmeli Brigade. With the resumption of fighting after the first truce, the Brosh operation was carried out in the north with the aim of destroying the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden area. On July 10, 1948 the Syrians attacked Durijiat, an attack accompanied by a heavy bombardment, during which time Chaim moved from position to position to encourage his men, and was seriously wounded by a shrapnel. He died a few hours later. His body was found 13 days later and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
