Riva Yitzhak (“Pongo”)


Son of Haim and Ernestina. He was born on April 16, 1939 in Jassy, ​​Romania. He completed his elementary studies in his hometown and then continued to attend high school there. He served in the army in Romania. In 1963, Yitzhak immigrated to Israel. He earned his living from mechanics. He had a tendency to sport. In Israel he gave his service in reserve service and even in the Six Day War called to reserve duty. He was new to his regiment but nevertheless fit in well with his department. He was quiet and orderly and did everything. He served as a rifleman in the battalion. On the second day of the war-fighting, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), while the army attacked his position on one of the Yabed outposts near Jenin, the platoon came up on a minefield; Then a strong fire was fired at her-and Yitzhak fell. He was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
