Son of Dov and Chana. He was born on the 11th of Sivan 5766 (June 11, 1955) in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Bar-Kochba Elementary School and at the Holtz vocational high school in Tel Aviv. In elementary school, Ilan did not stand out. “He was the man of action and not the man of the book.” His mother testifies to him. Nevertheless, he finished his first year at the Holtz School successfully. Professions that interested him-he devoted the maximum effort to them. But in the rest of the subjects he sat bored with lessons. He wanted to continue studying in electronics and when he was not asked, he asked to leave school and take external matriculation exams. His father persuaded them to continue his studies at the school, and Ilan finished them in the 11th grade in the field of aircraft technicians, and eventually left school, studied for a year at Ron ‘s external school and successfully completed his matriculation exams. The social activity was not his main concern, and he preferred to spend many hours dismantling instruments, wondering about their size, repairing and improving faulty instruments, and when he finished his elementary school he began to work during his vacations. On the 18th of Tishrei 5736 (18.9.1975) Ilan fell while performing his duties in the north of the country. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and brother. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Love of the land was a fundamental value in Ilan’s entire life, and we – his friends and commanders – will continue to work for this value.”
