Reich, Menachem (Milmal)


Son of Yehudit and Meir, was born on October 6, 1961 in Kiryat Haim, where he spent a happy childhood. Menachem began to study at the Arlozorov Elementary School in Kiryat Haim, and in the third grade he moved to Habonim School in Kiryat Bialik. Already in elementary school, Menachem discovered leadership skills, which later developed during his service in the IDF Menachem was a member of the youth movement “Mahanot Haolim” Kiryat Bialik branch, and of the Maccabi sports association Kiryat Bialik participated in many swimming competitions. In the Kiryat Bialik junior high school at the end of eighth grade, when he was accepted to the military boarding school near the “Reali” school in Haifa. Menachem was drafted into the IDF in mid-October 1979, when he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the Golani reconnaissance unit. He successfully completed a sniper course, a course for infantry officers and a course for infantry officers, and he took part in many operations and raids beyond the lines, and when he was appointed commander of a team, Menachem tried to educate his subordinates in addition to imparting professional knowledge. Even before he turned 21, Menachem was appointed deputy commander of the reconnaissance unit, and he was to assume command of the commando unit as the youngest commander until now, but this was not the case on 8 Iyar 5743 (19.4.1983), Lieutenant Menachem fell in battle in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. After he fell, he was promoted to captain. Menachem left behind his parents and a sister.
