Ravina, Gad (Gadi)


Ben Nava and Nissim. He was born on August 31, 1970 in Kfar Yona. The youngest son of a family of five. Gad attended the “Amal” elementary school in Kfar Yona and the “ORT” high school in Netanya in the fields of electricity and building. At the end of July 1989, Gad was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), where he was trained in the Israel Air Force. He received the rank of corporal and was sent to serve in the battery with an anti-aircraft gun. Gad joined the unit and his commander noted that he was a soldier who was balanced, responsible and disciplined, very devoted to his job. On the 2nd of Cheshvan 5752 (2 November 1991) Gad fell in the line of duty. He died in a road accident on the road of the Tank-Gibor junction, on his way to his unit on Mount Hermon. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. Survived by his parents, two sisters – Edna and Ofra and two brothers – Roni and Yitzhak. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “The battalion and the Gad battalion symbolized a model, volunteered for every mission and carried out the operational and administrative tasks with the precision and dedication they had. His parents commemorated his memory at the Neve Eliyahu synagogue in Kfar Yona, naming one of the tribes of Israel in the name of Gad.
