Shraga, son of Esther and Moshe Hacohen, was born on the 17th of Adar 5714 (March 22, 1954) in Ra’anana. His parents, Holocaust survivors, immigrated to Israel in 1947 together with his older brother and settled in Ra’anana, where they had an estate acquired since the 1930s. Shraga was a great-grandson and grandson, of a family of Torah scholars and Zionists from Poland. He studied in Ra’anana and in the last two years of the Kfar Saba High School in the Berel Katznelson High School. He completed his matriculation exams in the biological track, and he intended to continue with these studies. In school he was very much loved by his teachers and loved by all his friends. He was highly appreciated for his original thought and excellent expression. His sense of humor caught up with everyone and his classmates said that the lessons without him were boring. Shraga identified himself with his parents and with the horrors they experienced during the Holocaust. Whenever the class came up with an argument about the Holocaust, the teacher gave way to Shraga, who was able to respond with skill and success to his friends’ questions. Clever, courteous, with a thoughtful and noble mind was Shraga. He never asked for a book he had loaned to a friend, preferring to buy another for him. He was always able to put his friends on their mistakes and mistakes with fine humor and kindness, and as one of his friends testified, he was a “perfect gentleman.” In a symposium on education held at Beit Berl, attended by representatives of the Education Ministry, teachers and students, it was natural that Shraga represented his school. He always tried to get to the point of things, and as his teachers testified, “he did not agree with them until he had studied them in depth, although he never tried to stand out, was always the center of every conversation. , Intellectuality and sharpness, behind glasses in a silver frame. ” He liked to swim and excelled at it. On a 1968 vacation he successfully completed a lifeguard course and was awarded a “Lifeguard” certificate. On a 1969 vacation, he completed a course for Gadna commanders in Tzrifin. Shraga was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1972, and at his request he was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he completed his military service in the Armored Corps. On the 11th of Tishrei 5734 (October 7, 1973.) He fell in battle, was brought to rest in the cemetery in Ra’anana, left behind his parents and brother, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
