Rabinovitch, Ariel (Lazar)
Ariel (Lazar)Rabinovitch son of Miriam and Joseph, was born on November 25, 1928, in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. He completed a Hebrew elementary school there and joined the “Hanoar Hazioni” movement. At the age of 16, Ariel immigrated to Israel as part of Youth Aliyah in 1944. He joined a youth company in Tel Yitzhak and, after completing his training, worked in construction, first in Netanya and then in Ramat Gan. More recently, he worked in a factory. At the age of 18, Ariel joined the Irgun underground and during the days of the struggle he participated in various underground activities. Ariel fell in the Irgun attack on the Manshiyeh neighborhood in the north of Jaffa on the 19th of Nissan, April 28, 1948, when he was hit by British armored vehicles. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
