Polyboda, Matan
Ben Shula and Ilan. He was born on October 20, 1976, in Kfar Hittim. Matan was born as a third son of the Poliboda family, joined Dganit and Itai and brought great happiness to his family. In his first grade, his sister Dikla was born, with whom he developed an amazing bond. His mother said that he was already a baby on his agenda in peace of mind. A trait that characterized him as an adult. Matan was educated at the Degania Bet cooperative school. At age eleven, the family moved to Kibbutz Givat Oz, where he began to devote himself to the basketball game and learned to drum the drums. Great love for nature and especially for animals. At the age of fourteen he moved to the “Shomria” educational institution in Kibbutz Mishmar Ha’emek. Matan loved kibbutz life very much. Through his teammate Ophir, he adopted the Passover family from Mishmar Ha’emek, which in his special way gave him a lot of warmth and a sense of belonging. During these years he invested a lot in sports, especially in running and swimming. His body was solid and muscular, and together with his blue eyes he became a suitor and a repeater. Then he also found his great love, Ella, from Kibbutz Ein Hashofet. Thanks to his writing talent, he received a personal column in the Mossad’s internal newspaper. His sense of natural justice often prompted him to do justice to the newspaper when he felt that he had done wrong to others, and that he was sometimes “entangled” by the staff of counselors. The burden of the matriculation exams required him to maneuver greatly among all the tasks he took upon himself, but due to his ability to persevere, his willpower and his investment made great achievements. During this period, he began to declare his intention to volunteer for an elite unit, to the naval commando. A lot of investment went through the consolidation and in August 1995 began the service. Despite his hard service, Matan was outstanding for his special personality. He was very popular with his friends and commanders, was very motivated and was serious and independent in carrying out his duties. Matan Tzippa and wished for the day of April 1, 1997, when he was supposed to receive the Wings, but did not win. On December 4, 1996, Matan found his death during a diving training, when he was tied with a rope of life to his friend, St.-Sgt. Yair Angel. We will never know the real reasons that led to the deaths of Matan and Yair. An army delegation arrived at the family home, and all of them stood out from the commando unit, who barely managed to explain what had happened the night before, when Yossi Korkin, who became a true friend of the family, was killed. Matan was buried in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, and was survived by his parents, two sisters, a brother and a friend.
