Pollack, Elad

Elad, son of Orly and Micha Pollack, was born on 16.6.1984 in Kiryat Motzkin. In November 2002, Elad was drafted into the IDF and successfully completed basic training at the Adam facility and later advanced training at the Kela infantry base in the Golan Heights. At the conclusion of the advanced training, Elad was supposed to go on a regular vacation but preferred to postpone it so that he could travel with his friends to Eilat, and instead went with the entire company to train a infantry course in the Binyamin Brigade in the Ramallah area, to conduct a routine patrol to secure Route 60 (the road connecting Bet-El to Tapuach Junction) from shooting at vehicles and roadside bombs. After about three hours on the route of the tour and carrying out various missions, the patrol inside Ein Yabrud was surprised by terrorists who hid behind a wall and opened fire on them from the ambush. In this ambush, Sergeant Elad Pollack was killed, on 24 Tishrei, October 19, 2003. He was buried in the military section of the Tzur Shalom cemetery in Kiryat Bialik. Survived by his parents and brother.
